Surabaya local-news column in De Vrije Pers (30 Jan 1953); only one item concerns Gerwis: its Surabaya branch announced a meeting on 1 Feb at the Kabupaten pendopo to explain the organisation's aims and the experiences of its delegation to Peking.
Short item, Indische Courant voor Nederland, 13 May 1953, p. 3: first group of the Indonesian delegation to the international women's congress in Copenhagen (5-12 June) leaves on the 'Surriento': Setiati Surasto (Sarbupri) and Maasje Siwi and Kartinah (both Gerwis); the Australian delegation is on board.
Newspaper page, Indische Courant voor Nederland, 13 May 1953 (OCR partly illegible). The only relevant article repeats that Setiati Surasto (Sarbupri) and Maasje Siwi and Kartinah (Gerwis) left on the 'Surriento' for the Copenhagen international women's congress, with the Australian delegation also aboard.
