Housewives Are Upset
DJAKARTA, Dec. 30 (AAP-Reuter): Indonesian housewives including the wife of Foreign Minister, Dr. Subandrio, demonstrated in Djakarta today at the rising cost of living.
The women, numbering about 500, massed in front of the office of the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. J. Leimena.
A delegation including Mrs. Subandrio, then handed in a protest calling for immediate Government action to bring soaring prices down.
Outside, the rest of the women sang revolutionary songs and shouted "down with prices" and "hang corruptors."
The demonstration was organised by the Indonesian Women's Congress, of which Mrs. Subandrio is general chairman.
