Originally from the Netherlands: JURIST ARRESTED IN DJAKARTA
The police of Djakarta have arrested the jurist, originally from Zwolle, Mrs. Mr. Trees Soenito-Heyligers (52) on suspicion of being a member of the banned communist association of sciences (hsi) [HSI]. Mr. Soenito-Heyligers defended, two years ago, the communist trade-union leader K. Njono, who was sentenced to death for his part in the failed coup of 1965. Mrs. Soenito-Heyligers is married to the Indonesian Soenito, who studied law in the Netherlands before the war. The couple went to live in Indonesia thirteen years ago, after the Dutch government had expelled Mr. Soenito on account of undesirable political activities. Soenito, secretary of the Indonesian parliament and member of the left-wing Oereka [Urec] movement, was arrested shortly after the coup.
