First Lady (Ibu Negara)

Gevraagd naar haar mening omtrent de positie van de First Lady, zei de voorzitster van de iPcrwari, dat iedere vrouw die acceptabel is voor de maatschappij, deze functie kan vervullen. De First Lady moet daarnaast nog aan bepaalde eisen voldoen, die het prestige van het land in internationaal opzicht versterkt. De kwestie van de First Lady is een zaak van het volk zelf. Hierovei kan de Perwari niet alleen beslissen, want de zaak raakt niet alleen de vrouwen maar een ieder. Wat wij zo erg missen is een huwelijkswet om de moeilijkheden van 'huwelijk en echtscheiding op te vangen. Ik beveel daarom met klem aan, de huwelijkswet zo spoedig mogelijk te behandelen, aldus Mevrouw Kartowijono. De -Muslimaat, de vrouwenorganisatie van de Masjumi en de Gerwani (Gerakan Wanita Indonesia) beraden zich nog over dit probleem en konden hun mening daaromtrent dus nog niet uitspreken.
