Stadsnieuws: Morgen wordt Kartinidag gevierd (City news: Kartini Day tomorrow)

Morgen zal ook in Semarang de „Kartini"-dag worden'gevierd, als hulde aan de grote voorgangster van de vrouwenemancipatie in dit land, In het comité dat leiding zal geven aan de viering hebben tal van vertegenwoordigsters van de Semarangse vrouwen-verenigingen zitting, nl. mevr. Surya Hadi (Perwari) als voorzitster, mevr. Sumarman ([Unreadable]), mevr. Ngalim (Konsulaat Wanita), mevr. Sri Hudarijah (Gerwis), mevr. Arifaini (Muslimaat), mevr. Hardjosuparto (BWS), mevr. Tjiptorahardjo (IBI), mevr. Sirun (Aisjah) en mevr. Hadisubeno Sosrowerdojo (Wanita Demokrat). Morgenavond van 7 tot 9 uur wordt de grote herdenkingsbijeenkomst gehouden in de Gedung Rakjat, maar vanmiddag reeds wordt in de Gedung Rakjat een autoped-race gehouden van kinderen van 5 tot 7 jaar, aanvangende om 3 uur. Donderdagavond wordt in de Gedung Rakjat een krontjongavond gehouden, aanvangend 7 uur en Zaterdagavond volgt, eveneens in de Gedung Rakjat een grote feestavond met tal van vermakelijkheden. Bij die gelegenheid wordt ook een kook-wedstrijd gehouden, maar van een vijftal soorten goedkope Indonesische gerechten, zodat 't niet in de'bedoeling ligt luxueuse schotels op tafel te brengen. Zondag 26 April wordt de poppen-tentoonstelling die gedurende drie dagen in het Hotel du Pavillon wordt gehouden, geopend. De batige opbrengst hiervan is bestemd voor diverse inrichtingen waar hulpbehoevende kinderen worden verzorgd. Trouwens, de hele opzet van de „Kartini"-week staat in een sociale sfeer. Reeds eerder zijn gebruikte kleren opgehaald, die op de scholen zijn uitgedeeld. Morgen zal er in de stad een collecte worden gehouden met „Kartini"-bloemetjes en tijdens de week zal een stichting in het leven worden geroepen voor het tot stand brengen van een tehuis voor oude vrouwen.
