(Overzicht, oude commissies / nieuwe commissies:)
PNI: 1 zetel / 1 zetel
Masjumi: 2 zetels / 1 zetel
Gerwis: 2 zetels / 1 zetel
Wanita Demokrat: 1 zetel / —
Partai Buruh: 2 zetels / 1 zetel
Murba, Sobri, PPR: 3 zetels / 1 zetel
Nahdatul Ulama: — / 1 zetel
PKI: — / 1 zetel
PIR: — / 1 zetel
Perwari: — / 1 zetel
PRN: — / 1 zetel
Perbebsi: — / 1 zetel
GPII-putri: — / 1 zetel

Mayor explains composition of election committees
As wide a spread as possible on as broad a basis as possible is his aim
On Friday morning Mayor Sudiro gave an explanation of the method by which he proceeded in composing the election committees of the three kabupatens (Djakarta North, Djakarta West and Djakarta South-East).
He declared that he felt obliged to give an explanation of the principle on which the composition of 86 [sic] election committees of the kabupatens had been based, following newspaper reports that mentioned that the change the mayor had made disadvantaged the Masjumi.
The mayor recalled the promise of the president after the installation of the panitya pemilihan Indonesia that in each election committee of the 16 electoral districts of Indonesia a member of the Masjumi would have a seat. Mayor Sudiro declared that this had not concerned the lower election committees, such as those of the kabupatens.
He explained that in composing the new election committees for the kabupatens he had striven that as far as possible all currents among the people should be represented, with nationalism, socialism and faith as the basis.
Since the composition proceeded from the principle that the members of the election committee sit in it as persons and not as representatives of any party, an effort was made to award no party more than one seat.
In the new election committees the Masjumi, PNI, Gerwis, Nahdatul Ulama, PKI, Partai Buruh, PIR, Perwari, PRN, Perbepsi and the GPII-putri therefore each have one seat, and the Partai Murba, Sobri and PPR together one. [Comparison table, old and new committees:] PNI 1 seat / 1 seat; Masjumi 2 seats / 1 seat; Gerwis 2 seats / 1 seat; Wanita Demokrat 1 seat / —; Partai Buruh 2 seats / 1 seat; Murba, Sobri, PPR 3 seats / 1 seat; Nahdatul Ulama — / 1; PKI — / 1; PIR — / 1; Perwari — / 1; PRN — / 1; Perbepsi — / 1; GPII-putri — / 1. By taking away from the Masjumi 2, Gerwis 1, Wanita Demokrat 1, Partai Buruh 1, Murba-Sobri-PPR 2 seats and giving these 7 vacated seats to the NU, PKI, PIR, Perwari, Perbepsi and the GPII-putri, new election committees for the kabupatens could be formed (on a broader basis than the old) with nationalism, socialism and faith as the foundation, thus Mayor Sudiro. He declared that each of the three election committees for the kabupatens consists of six members, with as seventh member the daerah head who is ex officio chairman of the committee. The daerah heads of Gambir and Matraman (PNI) sit ex officio in the election committees and were not nominated by the PNI. In the election committees as composed by former mayor Sjamsuridjal there were therefore not three PNI members, but only one PNI member. In the new committees this has remained unchanged. If the daerah heads are transferred, their respective deputies will hold the chairmanship of the election committee, regardless of the party to which they belong, thus the mayor.
Furthermore he declared that he had striven that as far as possible in each of the three election committees a female representative has a seat, in accordance with the principle that was adopted.
Of the seven vacated seats he thus gave one to the Perwari (nationalism), the Gerwis (socialism) and the GPII-putri (faith). The seat of the Wanita Demokrat (like the Perwari to be regarded as a representative of nationalism) was given to the Perwari, since the chosen representative is otherwise not a member of any political party.
He ended with the statement that of the hundreds of candidates put forward only 18 could be chosen (each kabupaten 6), apart from the three daerah heads, and that in the composition care was taken as far as possible that all currents were equally represented, without favouring or disadvantaging any party.
