DJOKJA, 28 Juli (P.L. Aneta). Aneta). — On the initiative of the Jogjakarta branch of Sobsi, a "17 August" committee has been formed there, in which sit representatives of various trade unions, of "Front Pemuda", PKI, PSII, Partai Murba, Sobsi, Barisan Tani Indonesia, Gerwis [Gerwis; later Gerwani] and a few other organisations. In a statement Sobsi says that the committee came into being because the other committee, which had already been formed earlier on the initiative of the city administration, "is not of the kind that is desired by the people". It is said that the programme of this first committee shows that it only aims to "celebrate a feast, without giving expression to the struggle of the people", while its formation is moreover not considered democratic. Nevertheless the new committee has decided to sound out the "official" committee about a possible cooperation [Translator's note: text breaks off].
