GERWANI (Gerwani conference, Surabaya)

Gerwani hield onlangs conferentie. Besloot werkprogram en bestuur te vernieuwen. Wil ledental in de kortst mogelijke tijd twee à driemaal opvoeren en onderafdelingen vormen in alle onderdistricten en wijken in eigen stad Soerabaja. [Unreadable] Conferentie bekrachtigde voorts besluiten van Djakarta-congres over o.m. huwelijkswetgeving, veiligheid, democratische rechten, [Unreadable]. In resolutie werd geëist ontbinding stadsgemeenteraad [Unreadable] stappen van [Unreadable] in grenskwestie Wates-[Unreadable]. Voorts zeide conferentie zich solidair te verklaren met acties van SBPI en S.B. [Unreadable] om de doodeenvoudige reden, dat deze vakbonden voor het merendeel uit Gerwani-leden bestaan, aldus deze vrouwenorganisatie.

=== [Page 1] === GERWANI Gerwani recently held a conference. It decided to renew its work programme and board. It wants to increase its membership two- to fourfold in the shortest possible time and to form sub-branches in all sub-districts and wards in our own city, Surabaja [Surabaya]. The conference further ratified the decisions of the Jakarta [Djakarta] congress on, among other things, marriage legislation, security, democratic rights, [Unreadable] and H-bomb tests. In a resolution the dissolution of the city council was demanded. It was further declared that steps of the peasants [tani's] in the land dispute at Wates-Kediri [Kedjiti] were supported. The conference also declared itself solidary with actions of the SBPI and S.B.
