The following night another number of policemen made off, after which the Dutch authorities for safety's sake disarmed the entire police. Indonesian officials in Dutch service were arrested by guerrillas. Great unrest prevails in the town and the staff of various offices at one point did not even turn up for work. Great unrest in South Celebes In Central Java a violent clash occurred in the village of Tembelang between a Dutch patrol and fighting forces of the Muslim organisation Darul Islam. According to official figures three soldiers of the Royal Army fell on the Dutch side. In South Celebes the resistance of the population against the Dutch occupation is increasing again. A few companies of the Dutch army have proceeded to new actions in difficult terrain. A Dutch inspector of the Faroka factories has been killed. The puppet government of East Indonesia, which permitted that recently the freedom hero of South Celebes, [Wolter] Monginsidi, was shot by Dutch troops, has now announced that it "will act resolutely against the bands". Meanwhile a female Makassar municipal councillor, Salawati Daud, has already been arrested. Officially the reason given was that Salawati was said to be the head of a resistance group.
