Eugénie Cotton, President of the W.I.D.F., accused
Mrs Eugénie Cotton, president of the Women's International Democratic Federation, is also chairwoman of the Union of French Women. As such she has been accused of having taken part in an affair that demoralises the army and the nation with the aim of paralysing national defence. What has in fact happened? Just as the Dutch women take action against the war in Indonesia, the Union of French Women called, by means of a poster, on French mothers not to allow their under-age boys to sign up for dispatch to Viet-Nam, where a criminal colonial war is being waged. To the questions of the examining magistrate Mrs Cotton declared: "I protest vehemently against this accusation." The W.I.D.F. calls on all peace-loving people to protest against this accusation and to address these protests to Mr Perez, Juge d'Instruction, Palais de Justice, Paris.
