Die kennismaking me Pitojo was natuurlijk allerhartelijkst en bovendien her ongedwongen.

=== [Page 1] === Visit to the Soviet Union (From our reporter) AMSTERDAM, 6 September. – During the short time that a delegation of Indonesian women spent in the Netherlands, it was not easy for them to free themselves for a quiet conversation. They were on the way back to their country after a journey through the Soviet Union. They were eager to inform themselves about the situation in the Netherlands. There were constant receptions, which made the bustle no less. They were, among other things, guests of the Nederlandse Vrouwen Beweging and made personal acquaintance with Piet van Staveren, etc. That acquaintance with Pitojo [Pitoyo] was of course most cordial and moreover informal. There was also a meeting in The Hague to which the Indonesian women working in the Netherlands were invited to come and listen to the experiences of the delegation's journey. For five weeks they stayed in the Soviet Union, three of them in Moscow. The delegation has jointly drawn up an enthusiastic report on their journey. What a surprise it was for them, for example, in Uzbekistan when, on hearing the news that Indonesia would not take part in the conference on a South-East Asia Pact [SEATO], the Soviet women spontaneously began to dance for them. That too showed how the whole Soviet people fights for peace, thus the report. The general report of this delegation is all the more important because the delegation consists of women who are all members of different organisations. There was a member of the Islamic Women's Movement of the Masjumi, Mrs Samsudin; there was the sister of the Indonesian premier Sastroamidjojo; Mrs Effendi is a member of the Partai Buruh, while Mrs Sutarman works at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Indonesia. Further the delegation includes a member of an Indonesian student organisation, Mrs Wachum; Mrs Supardja, board member of the peace committee in Solo and also chairwoman of the Wanita Taman Siswa, a national organisation in the field of education, and in addition three members of the national board of the Indonesian Women's Movement, the Gerwani, namely Suharti, Sir Tohir [sic; Sri Tohir?] and Hanafi. As chairwoman of the delegation acted Mrs Andreas, vice-chairwoman of the Perwari, an important women's organisation. With some reluctance we mention the astonishment of a member of the delegation when she heard that in the Netherlands a woman in state service is dismissed on the day of her marriage. But this delegation will leave our country convinced of the fact that Dutch women too do not accept this law. [Caption:] The Indonesian delegation at the great agricultural exhibition in Moscow.
