Sympathie voor actie tot invrijheidstelling (brief van Gerwani-delegatie aan Tom Clardij)

De brief is gezonden namens de GERWANI door haar delegatie op de Berlijnse zitting van de Raad der Int. Democratische Vrouwenfederatie. Zij luidt als volgt: Aan onze dierbare Tom Clardij en zijn hele familie in Nederland. Vit naam van de GERWANI met haar 1.250.000 leden spreken wij onze vurige dank uit voor Uw actie als trouwe kameraad, die U met heldhaftigheid gevoerd heeft, samen met de Nederlandse vrouwen en het Nederlandse volk, die de nationale vrijheid, de vrede en de vriendschap lief hebben tot ondersteuning van onze strijd voor de bevrijding van West-Irian. U stond vooraan in het verzet tegen de troepenuitzending naar West- Irian en Uw houding is uniek en in overeenstemming met de aspiraties van het gehele Indonesische volk, om de volledige nationale onafhankelijkheid te verkrijgen en in de eerste plaats om het volk van West- Irian te bevrijden uit de greep van het Nederlandse kolonialisme. Deze vaderlandslievende houding heeft reeds veel sympathie ondervonden bij de vrouwen en het volk van Indonesië. Daarom betuigen de Indpnesische vrouwen hun sympathie en steun aan de Nederlandse vrouwen die U uit de gevangenschap willen bevrijden. Wij, als delegatie van de Indonesische Vrouwenbeweging op de zitting van de Raad van de Internationale Democratische Vrouwenfederatie, te weten mevrouw Suharti Suwarto, Darmini Sudirdjo en Sulami, spreken onze diepe sympathie uit en steunen de eis van de Nederlandse vrouwen om Torn Clardij vrij te laten uit de gevangenis. Wij hopen dat uw strijd voor de eenheid en vriendschap van de volken, die de vrede en de nationale vrijheid in de hele wereld liefhebben, nog grote successen zal behalen.
