Gani, vice-premier, tevens minister van Welvaart; Setyadjit Soegondo, tweede vice-premier; Hadji Aseft Salim [sic: Agoes Salim], Buitenlandse Zaken; Ali Sastroamidjojo, Onderwijs; Maramis, Financiën; Soekirdi, Voorlichting; Djoeanda, Verkeer; Moh.

=== [Page 1] === Besides Sjarifoeddin, who also acts as minister of Defence, the following persons form part of the new republican cabinet: Dr. Gani, vice-premier, also minister of Welfare; Setyadjit Soegondo, second vice-premier; Hadji Agoes Salim, Foreign Affairs; Ali Sastroamidjojo, Education; Maramis, Finance; Soekirdi [Soekiadi], Information; Djoeanda, Transport; Moh. Enoch, Public Works; Leimena, Health; Soesanto, Justice; Ahmad Asjari, Religion; Trimoerti, Labour; Soeprodjo, Social Affairs; Wikana, Youth Affairs; Soejat [Soejadi], minister of state for Nutrition; the Sultan of Djokja, minister of state for Special Territories. Appointed ministers of state are Go Giok Tjan, Martoso and Maroeto Daroesman. A minister of Home Affairs has not yet been designated. Aneta reports from Batavia that the post of minister of home affairs, which had at first remained vacant, has now been given to Wondo Amiseno, member of the P.S.I.I. Amiseno has been in prison in connection with Sjahrir's abduction last year, in which Tan Malaka was also involved. He was released in March. It later turns out that the name of one of the ministers of state was transmitted wrongly. It concerns Mr. Hindromartono, known specialist in labour matters, who before the war was Dutch [sic] representative at international conferences and then likewise one of the leading Indonesian socialists. Dr. Boediardjo has resigned as secretary-general of the Indonesian delegation because he shared responsibility for Sjahrir's policy. Associates of Sjahrir expect that he too will offer his resignation as chairman of the delegation. Soekarno on Thursday evening swore in the new cabinet and said in doing so that he hoped a policy of peace would be pursued. He asked Sjarifoeddin to preserve the unity of the Indonesian nation, despite the fact that not all parties are represented in the new cabinet. It is expected that the republican answer to the Dutch request for clarification will be taken to Batavia on Friday evening by Dr. Gani or Setyadjit.
