Demonstratie tegen de Nederlandse pers in Soerabaja

DJAKARTA – Te Soerabaja dient thans de rechtszaak tegen 42 studenten, die betrokken warén bij de vernieling van de kantoren van het dagblad „De Vrije Pers”. Vóór de rechtszitting werd te Soerabaja een demonstratie gehouden door duizenden studenten en scholieren met steun van de links georiënteerde vakbond, de Sobsi, en de Gerwis, een links georiënteerde vrouwenorganisatie. Daarbij werd ontslag van rechtsvervolging en beperking van de Nederlandse pers gevraagd.

Before the court session a demonstration was held in Soerabaja by thousands of students and schoolchildren with the support of the left-oriented trade union, the Sobsi, and the Gerwis, a left-oriented women's organisation. They called for discharge from prosecution and a restriction of the Dutch press.
