Guerrilla's in Celebes

Solution on the spot no longer possible
THE member of parliament from Celebes of the democratic faction, Mr Andi Lolo, has handed to the members of parliament from Celebes Manai Sophiaan (PNI), Mohamad Padang and Otto Rondonuwu a copy of a letter from the guerrilla leadership to President Soekarno. In an interview with Aneta Andi Lolo declared that a solution of the guerrilla question at Makassar is no longer possible. It is now waiting for the decisions of President Soekarno and the Minister of Defence. The guerrilla leadership has proposed to have all guerrilla troops in Celebes incorporated into the APRI in the form of a "Brigade Hasanuddin". "I find the proposal of the guerrilla leadership reasonable and, given the tense situation, the guerrilla question must be solved quickly. During his visit to Celebes President Soekarno promised to solve this question by 3 August at the latest. Should the government find no solution, this guerrilla question will be brought before parliament. That is also why a copy of the letter to President Soekarno has been handed to the members of parliament from Celebes," said Andi Lolo.
