Ontevredenheid?

=== [Page 1] === Situation in Minahasa The commander of R.I. 24 - T.T.-VII, Lieutenant-Colonel Worang, declared to PIA that the chairman of the defence section in parliament, Lukas Kustario, who recently paid a visit to Menado, has not understood the situation in Minahasa. Lieutenant-Colonel Worang made this statement because his name was mentioned at the press conference that Lukas Kustario held in Djakarta. According to Lieutenant-Colonel Worang, Mr Lukas Kustario could impossibly have a correct picture of the situation in Minahasa, since he stayed in Menado only a few hours (half past four in the afternoon until early the next morning), so that his statement must have been based on information from a few persons. During his recent visit to Menado the army chief of staff, Major-General Nasution, took over for settlement all questions concerning the armed forces. All measures taken on Lieutenant-Colonel Worang's initiative for the benefit of the army have been legalised by the army chief of staff, from whom permission has further been obtained to continue the construction work, such as the building of army camps. No details Now that the army chief of staff has taken over the pending questions, Lieutenant-Colonel Worang considers himself not competent to go into details regarding Lukas Kustario's statement on army activities, which statement in general does not meet with his approval. This also concerns Mr Lukas's opinion that a counter-revolutionary movement would exist in Minahasa to disrupt the unity in the Indonesian government. Worang considers it the task of political leaders to react, if necessary, to Lukas Kustario's statement, which puts Minahasa in a wrong light. Finally he wonders whether the two other members of parliament accompanying Kustario, namely Mrs Salawati and Mansjur, would hold the same opinion. Discontent? The newly appointed resident-coordinator in North Sulawesi, Dr Ratulangi, merely shrugged his shoulders as a comment on alleged activities of federalists, as argued by Lukas Kustario. That discontent in the daerah about the government's policy probably gives food to voices for a federalist structure, Dr Ratulangi does not consider impossible. "The greatest opponents can become the fiercest supporters," said the resident-coordinator in North Sulawesi.
