Gewapende benden opereren in Oost-Indonesië: instelling militair bestuur niet onmogelijk (Armed gangs operate in East Indonesia)

"VRIJDAGOCHTEND is het " NIT-kabinet bijeengekomen ter bespreking van de algemene situatie in de negara in verband met »le komst van de APRIS-troepen. Het kabinet besloot alle ariestanten, betrokken bij de affaires van Masamba, Kakas, Rembigen en Tondano in vrijheid te stellen. Onder deze arrestanten bevindt zich mevrouw Salawati Daud. Voorts besprak het kabinet de activiteit van gewapende benden niet behorende tot de APRIS in verschillende plaatsen van Zuid-Celebes. De gevangenis Plewali is bezet door gewapende benden, aldus Aneta*s speciale correspondent in Makassi-r. De politiepost Bandjar is door gewapende benden aangevallen. Ook de politiepost Sindjai is door een sterke groep, niet tot de APRIS behorende, aangevallen. De spijkerfabriek Tello werd Donderdagavond bezocht door vijftien gemaskerde lieden, die alle wapens meenamen die ter bescherming van de fabriek aanwezig waren. Het kabinet van Oost-Indonesië heeft de waarnemend commandant voor Oost-Indonesië majoor Pieters, verzocht tezamen met de politie negara het optreden der gewapende benden te onderdrukken. Kolonel Kawilarang wordt ter bespoediging van de zuiveringsactie op Zuid- Celebes zo spoedig mogelijk verwacht. Majoor Pieters verklaarde aan Aneta, dat de „APRIS niet terugdeinst voor de gewapende benden in geheel Oost-Indonesië".
