Mej. Mej.

Miss Sulami declared at the press conference that something is not right with the release of the arrestees. This, said Miss Sulami, is a consequence of "the bankruptcy policy of the Sukiman-Wibisono government". The Wilopo government is now responsible for this. Miss Sulami considered it highly likely that the government's promises now given will prove to be only empty phrases. If this is correct, the people's confidence in the government will be shaken, she said. Miss Sulami further said she was of the opinion that the cause of all this must be sought in the R.T.C. agreement, of which the Sukiman/Wibisono policy is a consequence. This policy is aimed at suppressing the people. In this connection the committee is of the opinion that the time has now come to bring about the release of the prisoners through the struggle of the whole people. After all, she said, the August raids were in essence nothing other than a general attack on the Indonesian people, which is consistently anti-imperialist. Asked, Miss Sulami stated that the action is also being conducted in the interest of the thirteen Chinese citizens who are being held on the basis of the SOB [state of war and siege law].
