Mr. Soenito-Heyligers defended two years ago the communist trade-union leader Njono, who was sentenced to death for his part in the failed coup of 1965. The 52-year-old Mrs. Soenito-Heyligers comes from Zwolle. Her father was chief engineer at the Dutch Railways. She married an Indonesian law student, Soenito, who had come to the Netherlands for his studies before the war. The couple came to Indonesia thirteen years ago, after Mr. Soenito and the former director of Antara, Go Gien Tjwan, had been expelled by the Dutch government on grounds of undesirable political activities. Soenito, secretary of the Indonesian parliament and member of the leftist "Ureka" movement, was arrested shortly after the coup.
