Men ondervindt echter veel tegenwerking vanuit de Islam".

=== [Page 1] === Constitution [Beginning of article missing.] The ban on the communist parties was a consequence of the replacement of the constitution of 1950 [OCR: 1450] by that of 1945. All political activities and mass organisations were banned. Also the progressive Islamic Masyumi and the intellectualist Partai Sosialis Indonesia (PSI) [were ...]. The women who stay in the women's camps are for the most part members of the militant Gerakan Wanita Indonesia (Gerwani). Dr. H.C. Koetsier, of the World Diaconate of the synodal Reformed churches, went into the role that the churches in Indonesia play in this during the discussion that followed the press conference organised on Monday by Amnesty. "There is much uncoordinated relief, from both the Protestant and the Roman Catholic side. Thus care is taken of the families left behind by the prisoners and of the released. One meets, however, with much opposition from Islam." Of a clearly expressed aversion to the Indonesian practices there is no question in Indonesia. Drs. O.G. de Vries Reilingh of the Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV) declared during the press conference that the International Labour Organisation ILO is considering placing Indonesia on the "black list" because forced labour is performed on Buru. "That was already planned earlier, but the Indonesian government has promised to put an end to the forced labour. In March of next year a commission of experts will look at whether these promises have been kept. If not, then Indonesia will really go on the black list. And that gives worldwide publicity to the abuses. Exclusion from the ILO is not possible," said Dr. De Vries Reilingh. "A country can only withdraw voluntarily, as South Africa has done."
