Voor het consulaat van China in Medan (Noord-Surrfatra) hebben dinsdag meer dan 100.000 mensen een betoging gehouden. De vlag werd neergehaald en er werd enige schade aan het gebouw aangericht. De betogers eisten het aftreden van minister Soebandrio. De vrouwenorganisatie van de Indonesische communistische partij (Gerwani) is uit het Indonesische vrouwencongres (Owani) gestoten, aldus het Indonesische persbureau Antara. De Owani wordt voorgezeten door mevrouw Hoeroestiati Soebandrio, de vrouw van de minister van Buitenlandse Zaken.

The flag was pulled down and some damage was done to the building. The demonstrators demanded the resignation of minister Soebandrio. The women's organisation of the Indonesian communist party (Gerwani) has been expelled from the Indonesian women's congress (Owani) [Kowani], according to the Indonesian news agency Antara. The Owani is chaired by Mrs Hoeroestiati Soebandrio [Hurustiati Subandrio], the wife of the minister of foreign affairs.
