(From our correspondent in Utrecht) SURPRISED, BUT NOT SHOCKED, Mr and Mrs Heyligers heard on the radio on Sunday afternoon in their Amersfoort old people's flat that their daughter Trees (50) from Djakarta has taken on the defence of one of the possible leaders of the failed Indonesian coup, the communist trade union leader Njono. "She has so often stood up for the oppressed in her life," explains her father, a former chief engineer with the Netherlands Railways. "When she still had a legal practice in Amsterdam, she often took pro deo cases. She has a strong sense of justice. Every person has a right to a defence, she always said. From that idealism it is understandable that she pleads in this trial."
