Anti-communists at head of cabinet. The Indonesian military yesterday completed their grab for power in a quietly proceeding 12-hour coup. In this period of time the cabinet of President Soekarno was purged of pro-communist elements and the president himself was placed under heavy guard. The military commander Lieutenant-General Soeharto had 15 cabinet members arrested, among them the minister of foreign affairs Dr Soebandrio, and set up an interim cabinet with control over the press, radio, communications and other services vital to the military. The position of the non-arrested members of Soekarno's cabinet (about 90 in number) is entirely unclear.
