Women round the World: Indonesian Women (Kinesis, June 1977)
Kinesis (Vancouver feminist paper), June 1977, p.10, 'Women round the World': a section on Indonesian women. It says Gerwani, the largest women's organisation (over one million members), was banned for alleged complicity in the 1965 coup and blamed for atrocities; many members suffered torture and sexual abuse in interrogation (citing the Sunday Times, 11 Jan 1976, a woman 'Tjiou'), and about 2,000 women remain imprisoned without trial after eleven years. Amnesty estimates 55,000-100,000 political prisoners.
Kinesis (surat kabar feminis Vancouver), Juni 1977, hlm. 10, 'Women round the World': bagian tentang perempuan Indonesia. Amnesty memperkirakan 55.000-100.000 tapol.
“p.10: 'GERWANI members were also accused of being responsible for atrocities... Many of the GERWANI women were subjected to torture and sexual abuse during their interrogation... over 2,000 women still in prison.'”
