Hula Hoops 'Improper'
NEW YORK, April 2. — The Indonesian Women's Movement yesterday urged the Indonesian Government to ban hula hoops because they were not consistent with Eastern ethics and were undermining mental health. United Press International reported from Jacarta that the appeal coincided with a warning by military authorities in Surabaya to hula-hooping children to maintain "proper conduct" and not "violate the norms of decency."
