NEW YORK, April 2.—The Indonesian Women’s Movement yesterday urged the Indonesian Gov- ‘ernment to ban hula hoops because they were not consistent with Eastern ethics and were undermining mental health.
United Press International reported from Jacarta that the appeal coincided with a warning by military authorities in Surabaya to hula-hooping children to maintain ‘proper conduct” and not “violate the norms of decency.”
