Indonesian government refuses entry visas; our women's federation delegation returns to Beijing
[People's Daily 1951-01-06, page 4]
[Our newspaper's report] Shen Zijiu, Zeng Ke and Qi Yun of the All-China Democratic Women's Federation, who, commissioned by the Women's International Democratic Federation and representing the WIDF, left Beijing on 17 November last year for Indonesia to attend the All-Indonesia Women's Congress held in Yecheng [Jakarta], were unable to go: although the WIDF had long since notified the Indonesian Women's Congress about Shen Zijiu and the others entering Indonesian territory, and Shen and the others had personally negotiated many times in Hong Kong with the Indonesian consul stationed there, the Indonesian government deliberately made difficulties and refused entry visas. Besides expressing deep regret, Shen and the others have reported the details to the WIDF, and returned to Beijing on 30 December last year. (People's Daily database material)
