The statement said: Through this visit our delegation of Diet members has come to recognise that the Chinese people, under the leadership of Chairman Mao Zedong, are building a new country and ardently hope to establish friendly relations with our country for the sake of world peace. The statement stressed: Our wish is, for the sake of Asian and world peace, to promote friendship between Japan and China, to restore diplomatic relations at an early date and to settle the various pending questions between the two countries. Leader of the Indian trade union congress friendship delegation The friendship delegation of the All India Trade Union Congress, which visited our country at the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, led by its general secretary K. P. Tripathi, arrived in Guangzhou on the 24th, three persons in all, and left Guangzhou on the 25th to return home via Hong Kong. Before leaving, Tripathi gave a radio talk about his visit to China over the Guangzhou People's Broadcasting Station, in which he said: "India and China, two great countries not only in Asia but in the world, have several things in common, and the friendship between these two great countries began early in history. The Indian and Chinese peoples are peace-loving by nature. The recent awakening of the Asian countries has made it impossible for the Western countries to look down on Asia as they used to. Through the important meetings held by our prime ministers, our two great countries have drawn up a plan for coexistence. If this plan can be carried out resolutely, it may be possible to rid the world of suspicion and fear and bring peace to the world. I think that the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (which is a communist organisation) inviting us (a non-communist organisation) to visit China is carrying out just this policy." Tripathi went on: "The trust and hospitality given us during our short visit, letting us visit anywhere in all of China that we wanted, has taken this policy of coexistence a step forward." Tripathi concluded: "On behalf of my companions and myself I wish to express thanks to the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, which invited us, for the opportunity it has given us." Members of the Indonesian goodwill delegation According to reports of 26 October in the Hong Kong "Ta Kung Pao" and "Wen Wei Po": fourteen members of the Indonesian goodwill delegation and the Indonesian women's delegation met the Hong Kong press on the 23rd while passing through Hong Kong on their way home. The letter went on to describe the achievements in construction in various fields that they had encountered in China. The letter also said: "Dear friends, we have learned many things from you; we feel that the only and best way to express our thanks for this extraordinary journey is to talk about you and your work to our friends, the women of Italy. We want Italy to understand the great achievements of your country, and we shall use the strength of all our democratic organisations to support China's full rights, to support the liberation of Taiwan and the admission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations, to support your establishment of political, economic and cultural relations with all countries of the world, and at the same time to condemn the interventionist policy of the imperialists and support the unity and independence of the peoples of Asia, in which China is a brilliant beacon, shining with the light of victory over the colonial exploiters and their allies." The letter was full of deep friendship for the women of our country, and expressed the wish to make the following effort to develop this friendship: "For our part, we shall work for a future in which ever closer political, economic, trade and cultural relations are created between Italy and China.
