According to a report by the Antara news agency: Dulles met with demonstrations at the airport by residents of the Indonesian capital opposing him. The demonstrators shouted slogans such as "Down with the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization". An Indonesian girl was arrested by police for trying to stick a protest slogan on the glass of the car Dulles was riding in. An Indonesian police officer later said that the paper bore slogans opposing the Manila Treaty Organization and condemning interference in Indonesia's internal affairs.
