Article text as given by the database; full-page scan follows (page image 6). 泗水印度尼西亚中国友好协会主席　 访问即将归国的华侨 Chairman of the Surabaya Indonesia-China Friendship Association visits overseas Chinese about to return home [People's Daily 1960-04-05, page 6] Xinhua, Jakarta, 3rd – Supatto [苏帕托, Supartho?] and others, chairman of the Surabaya Indonesia-China Friendship Association in Surabaya, Indonesia, on the afternoon of 31 March visited overseas Chinese about to return home, gathered in three shelters in Surabaya. These overseas Chinese, from Malang, Kediri, Tulungagung and Blitar, numbered over two hundred. They are part of the nearly ten thousand overseas Chinese in these areas who have asked to return to China. After the Indonesian authorities banned small retail traders, they lost their means of livelihood. These overseas Chinese left Surabaya on 1 April aboard the "Tai Bao An" [大宝安号]. When visiting these overseas Chinese, Supatto and others gave them biscuits and other things. Supatto said he hoped the friendly relations between Indonesia and China would continue. The Association believes that, through understanding, the friendly relations between the two countries will become closer. The Surabaya organisation of the Indonesian Women's Movement Association [Gerwani, 印度尼西亚妇女运动协会] also sent people to visit these overseas Chinese and presented them with flowers.
