All-China Women's Federation gives banquet for women's delegations and representatives of various countries; hosts and guests toast the development of friendship and unity among women of Asia, Africa and Latin America Xinhua News Agency, 5th – This evening the All-China Women's Federation held a banquet to warmly welcome the women's delegations and representatives from Asian, African and Latin American countries who have come to China to take part in the National Day activities and to make friendly visits. They are: Brazilian women representatives, including Mrs Be. Bandeira, wife of the press secretary of the Brazilian Presidency, Mrs Jo. Echeverry, wife of the deputy publisher of Última Hora, and Mrs Lu. Prada; the Cuban women's delegation headed by Mrs Mi. Ro. Calderón; the Ghanaian women's delegation headed by Mrs Na Kojo; the women's representatives of the African Independence Party of Portuguese Guinea and Cape Verde, Mrs Ma. Da. Inocência and Mrs Fa. Camara; the Indonesian women's delegation made up of the wife of Jakarta Mayor Sumano [Soemarno], Mrs Kartinah Kurdi [Kartinah Kurdi], First Deputy Secretary-General of the Indonesian Women's Movement Association [Gerwani], Mrs Katini Rajasa [Kartini Radjasa], Second Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Women's Association, Mrs Hatinia Hati, one of the leaders of the Women's League of the Islamic Teachers' Federation, and others; Mrs Ga. Quesada, Chair of the Federation of Peruvian Women; Mrs Putuze Aborus, Executive Committee member of the South West Africa People's Organisation; and Mrs Ashura Bob of Zanzibar and the Zanzibar women's delegation headed by Mrs Bi. A. Juhor. Also invited to the banquet were the American progressive woman writer Anna Louise Strong, who is in Beijing; Mrs Guiling Bunsana [Khampheng? – Laotian name uncertain] of Laos; Mrs Aisha Ali Sultan and Mrs Sultanli Da Kai'er [Sultana Khair?] of Zanzibar; the wife of Pino Santos, Cuban Ambassador to China; the wife of Sufri Yusuf [Soepeni? – name uncertain], chargé d'affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in China; and the wife of Bone [Bonne?], chargé d'affaires of the Ghanaian Embassy in China. In her speech at the banquet, Vice-Chair Shi Liang said: we have always cherished the development of friendship and unity with women of all countries. We have always supported the struggle of the peoples and women of Asia, Africa and Latin America and of the whole world against imperialism and old and new colonialism, and regard this support as an international duty that we must fulfil. The women's representatives of Ghana, Indonesia, Cuba, Zanzibar, Peru, Brazil, South West Africa and Portuguese Guinea spoke in turn, wishing the peoples and women of Asia, Africa and Latin America and the peoples and women of the world ever-growing friendship and unity. The banquet was filled with an atmosphere of joyful unity and friendship. Gathered this evening with the women friends from various countries were: officials of the All-China Women's Federation, women ministers of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and the government, and heads of the relevant people's organisations, Yang Zhihua, Liu Qingyang, Shuai Mengqi, Liu Yaxiong, Luo Shuzhang, Xia Zhixu, Qian Zhengying, Sa Kongliao, Zhou Erfu, Wang Zhaohua, Ou Tangliang, Zhang Qian, Wang Guangmei, Zhang Xiaomei, Lin Qiaozhi, as well as well-known figures from the capital's medical, scientific, educational, literary, journalistic, political and artistic circles and women model workers in industry and agriculture.
