Peoples of all countries are increasingly awakening in the face of US imperialist aggression; the US plot to turn the Congo into a second South Vietnam is bound to fail miserably; Pakasa [Gbenye? – name uncertain], member of the National Liberation Committee of the Congo (Léopoldville), makes an urgent call to the patriotic armed forces to strengthen the fighting; the public of Asia, Africa and Latin America continues to protest against US imperialist crimes; Jakarta holds a mass anti-US demonstration of ten thousand
Xinhua News Agency, 4th – Léopoldville report: Pakasa [name uncertain], member of the National Liberation Committee of the Congo (Léopoldville), issued an urgent appeal yesterday calling on the revolutionary armed forces on all fronts in the Congo (Léopoldville) to strengthen their unity and deal the enemy a fatal blow. The appeal said: "The situation created by the unscrupulous aggression launched by British, American and Belgian imperialism, in collusion, against Stanleyville on the north-eastern front can in no way affect your morale and determination to achieve final victory." The appeal said: "This surprise attack and the mass slaughter of our defenceless population have strengthened and raised our fighting spirit, so that we will defeat the international executioners and the traitors to the fatherland and to Africa more quickly."
Xinhua News Agency, 4th – Khartoum report: Sudan's Al-Ra'y al-'Amm [Public Opinion] reported yesterday that Khalafallah Babikr [Khalafalla Babiker], Sudan's Minister of Information and Labour, told the press that the Sudanese Council of Ministers had agreed that Sudanese doctors form a volunteer medical team to go to Stanleyville to help the Congolese revolutionaries. Several Khartoum papers reported that the National Front of Sudanese Professional Bodies had also set up a committee headed by Mubarak Shaddad, director of Omdurman Hospital, to make arrangements for medical aid to the Congolese people, raise funds, and organise medical personnel and citizen volunteers to help the Congolese revolution.
Xinhua News Agency report: Mogadishu report: the Somali National Assembly on the night of the 3rd passed a motion strongly condemning Belgian, US and British aggression against the Congolese people. During two days of debate in the Somali National Assembly, many members spoke strongly condemning the bloody massacre by US and Belgian aggressors in Stanleyville. Former Prime Minister and member Shermarke [Abdirashid Ali Shermarke] said that all African peoples and the whole world were strongly protesting against the aggression of the US, Belgian and British aggressors against the innocent Congolese people. He proposed a nationwide demonstration to support the Congolese brothers and condemn the aggressors. Hashi, member of the Central Committee of the Somali Democratic Union [Somali Youth League? – name uncertain] and a member of the Assembly, said that US and Belgian aggression was a real danger to the African national liberation movement and a serious threat to world peace. He also said: "African brotherhood and solidarity oblige us to stand with our Congolese brothers against colonialist intervention and the brutal violation of the people's freedom."
Xinhua News Agency, Jakarta, 4th – About ten thousand youth, students, workers and people of other strata in Jakarta demonstrated this morning, condemning the armed invasion of the Congo (Léopoldville) by US and Belgian imperialists. As they marched through the streets the demonstrators shouted with raised fists: "Down with US imperialism!" "Confiscate American capital!" and "Close the US Information Service!" The angry demonstrators rushed into the library of the US Information Service, tore up and burned an American flag and smashed the US coat of arms. At the same time they threw American books and periodicals from the library into the street and burned them. Before the demonstration a mass rally was held at the Youth Palace in the city. Djambek [Jambek? – name uncertain], Deputy Secretary-General of the Indonesian National Front, said at the rally that all the Indonesian people strongly condemned the savage actions of US and Belgian imperialism in the Congo. He called for strengthening the unity of the New Emerging Forces to smash US and Belgian imperialism. Suwardi [Soewardi], Chairman of the Action Committee in Support of the Congolese People, called in his speech on Indonesian youth and people to continue to protest until the US and Belgian imperialists withdrew from the Congo. Representatives of the People's Youth [Pemuda Rakyat] and other youth and student organisations spoke one after another at the rally. All strongly protested against the barbarous and shameful crimes committed by US and Belgian imperialists in the Congo and expressed their determination to help the Congolese people wipe out the US and Belgian aggressors.
Xinhua News Agency report: Public opinion in African, Asian and Latin American countries continues to condemn the armed aggression by US and Belgian imperialism against the Congo (Léopoldville). Guinea's Horoya [Freedom] said in an article on the 2nd that although the aggressors in the Congo, under pressure from African and world public opinion, had withdrawn some paratroopers, this was merely to hoodwink world opinion, because fighting was still raging in the Stanleyville area, where Tshombe's puppet army was massing, and the Congolese brothers were continuing to fight heroically. Representatives of students from the Congo, Ghana, Tanzania, Upper Volta and other countries studying in Cairo held a special meeting on the 1st and cabled the Organisation of African Unity and the United Nations that African students in Cairo condemned imperialist action against the Congo. The cable demanded the immediate halt of the imperialist massacre of the peaceful people of the Congo. An editorial in the latest issue of Mozambique Revolution, organ of the Mozambique Liberation Front, said that the African peoples must truly unite to defend themselves. The colonialist countries would never be reconciled to losing Africa's wealth. The independence of the African colonies was painful for them. An editorial in Mali's Essor [Development] on the 1st said that now "is the time for imperialism to be tied to the stake and exhibited to the world." The editorial pointed out that most of the world's radio stations and newspapers were condemning the imperialists' aggression against the Congo. The peoples of all countries were increasingly awakening in the face of the danger from imperialism. Harian Rakjat [Harian Rakyat] of Indonesia said in a commentary on the 3rd: "US imperialism shamelessly attempts to turn the Congo into a second South Vietnam. But it will suffer total defeat, just as it has suffered defeat in South Vietnam and elsewhere in the world." The commentary said: "The Congolese people have finally taken the correct road to liberate their own country, that is, taking up arms against the brutal violence of the imperialists." The Korean Rodong Sinmun [Labour Daily] said in an editorial on the 1st that it firmly supported the struggle of the people of the Congo (Léopoldville) against US aggression. The editorial said that the new armed intervention of US imperialism in the Congo showed that it was struggling by any means, once again exposing its aggressive nature and plundering character to the light of day. Vietnam's Nhan Dan [People's Daily] pointed out in an editorial on the 2nd that the armed attack on the Congo (Léopoldville) by US and Belgian imperialism once again exposed the most bellicose, cruel and reactionary nature of US imperialism and showed that it was the most dangerous enemy of the peoples of the Congo, Africa and the whole world. The editorial said that the Vietnamese people fully supported the struggle of their brother Congolese people, strongly condemned US and Belgian imperialism, and demanded that they withdraw their troops, advisers and weapons from the Congo and let the Congolese people settle their own affairs. The editorial concluded that the rising worldwide movement against US imperialist aggression in the Congo embodied the great, militant solidarity among the peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America, the peoples of the socialist countries and the peoples of the world in the struggle against US imperialism and for national independence and peace. The South Vietnam Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Committee and the South Vietnam Committee for the Defence of World Peace issued a joint statement on 26 November expressing full support for the just struggle of the Congolese people to liberate their country from foreign domination. The Presidium of the Indonesian Youth Front issued a statement on the 1st calling on Indonesian youth and students to launch a campaign against US and Belgian imperialist aggression in the Congo. The Central Council of the Indonesian Women's Movement Association [Gerwani] also issued a statement demanding that their aggressor forces be immediately withdrawn from the Congo. An editorial on the 1st in the Pakistani paper Naya Waqt [New Era] pointed out that it was certain that the US and Belgian attack on Stanleyville was not to "rescue whites" but to install their lackey Tshombe there. The Cuban Association of Democratic Jurists said in a statement on the 3rd that US imperialist aggression against the people of the Congo (Léopoldville) "once again shows the deep-rooted hatred of the imperialists for the peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America." The statement pointed out that the peoples could no longer be deceived by the imperialists' double-dealing. According to the Mexican daily El Día on the 3rd, the Peace Defence Committee of the Mexican National Liberation Movement said in a statement on the recent aggression against the Congo (Léopoldville): "This is militarist aggression and intervention by the colonialist interest groups of the United States and Belgium, aimed at maintaining their privileged position in the African countries." The committee expressed strong condemnation. The Venezuelan National Liberation Front delegation in Cuba said in a statement on the 30th: "The peoples of the world and anti-imperialist forces should protest loudly (against US imperialist aggression) and give the Congolese people all necessary support, so as to stop the criminal hand of US imperialism and not allow it to continue its criminal policy of aggression and intervention."
