In an Idul Fitri [Lebaran; "开斋节"] greeting published on the front page of that paper, Subandrio said: "The spirit of the two people's mandates, Indonesia's withdrawal from the United Nations and Indonesia's efforts at self-reliance – all these are direct and bold counter-blows to the atrocities committed by imperialism and old and new colonialism." He also said: "We should adopt an unshakeable attitude towards imperialism and old and new colonialism, that is, we cannot compromise with them." Subandrio called on the Indonesian people to overcome all difficulties. He said: "The condition is the unity of all revolutionary national forces at home and of all revolutionary forces abroad." Subandrio said that the Afro-Asian Islamic Conference and the Second Afro-Asian Conference, to be held soon, were both important places for strengthening the unity of the New Emerging Forces and opposing imperialism and old and new colonialism. Ismuwir [Isma'il? – name uncertain], General Chairman of the Indonesian Youth Movement, said that the China-Indonesia joint statement strengthened the confidence of the world's revolutionary and progressive peoples in their struggle for national independence. He pointed out that promoting friendship between the Indonesian and Chinese peoples was in the interest not only of the two peoples but also of the common cause of the world's revolutionary and progressive peoples to smash and root out imperialism and old and new colonialism. He said that the 750 million revolutionary people of Indonesia and China expressed their determination to smash "Malaysia", a product of neo-colonialism, and any US imperialist aggression in Southeast Asia, in answer to the war plots of US imperialism. London and Washington were shocked by this answer, which was more powerful than a US imperialist nuclear explosion. The Indonesian Youth and Students' Federation [name uncertain], on behalf of its 1.25 million members, sent a telegram to First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Subandrio expressing full support for the China-Indonesia joint statement. The telegram said, "The joint statement is very beneficial to the Indonesian revolution and to the whole New Emerging Forces in confronting their common enemy." The telegram also expressed determination to further strengthen the friendship between Indonesian and Chinese students. The Indonesian University Students' Movement Alliance [CGMI], in the name of its 40,000 members, wrote a letter of congratulation to Subandrio, warmly praising the brilliant achievements of the delegation he led in strengthening the friendship between Indonesia and China, the pillar of the New Emerging Forces in Asia. The Indonesian Women's Movement Association [Gerwani] also sent a telegram to Subandrio hailing the China-Indonesia joint statement.
