The military authorities of Indonesia, together with right-wing forces, continue the anti-communist campaign. Day after day the newspapers report new arrests of persons implicated in the events of "30 September", and reprisals against workers and peasants. The commander of the military district of South Kalimantan, Brigadier General Amir Machmud, announced that up to now 1,600 people have already been arrested in South Kalimantan. According to information received by the Governor of Central Java, in Wonogiri, not far from Surakarta, 1,630 people have been arrested, mainly peasants who are members of the Peasants' Front [BTI]; in Sragen 820 people have been arrested, in Boyolali 711 people, in Klaten over 2,200 people. As reported by the agency ANTARA, all those arrested are members of the Communist Party of Indonesia, of Gerwani [Gerwani], of "Pemuda Rakyat" [People's Youth], of the Peasants' Front and of "Partindo".
