...of China, Cai Chang went on to say, are boldly mastering culture, science and technology. In 1956, among those who were engaged in eliminating their illiteracy, 43 per cent were women. Many women working in medicine and sanitation, education, literature, art and science give all their strength for the good of the people. Among those awarded prizes of the Academy of Sciences of China in 1956 there are four women scientists. No Chinese woman had ever before been given such an honour.
Chinese women, Cai Chang said in conclusion, thank the Soviet people with all their hearts for their enormous help in our socialist construction, and sincerely respect Soviet women for their example on the path of women's liberation. We, Chinese women, observe with joy the successes of women of all the socialist fraternal countries, the successes of women of the countries of Asia and Africa in their struggle for national independence, the successes of women of all countries in the struggle for peace. These achievements gladden and inspire us, and we hope that the women of all countries will achieve still greater successes.
Ban atomic and hydrogen weapons!

Member of the national "March 8 Committee" of the Republic of Indonesia
The life and struggle of Indonesian women are inseparable from the life and struggle of the whole people of our country, from the struggle against the colonial oppression of imperialism, for freedom, democracy and peace, for a better life, for the happiness of children.
In 1954 our women took an active part in the general parliamentary elections; sixteen women were elected deputies of parliament, thirty-three deputies of the constituent assembly.
National liberation opened to our people the road to literacy and culture. This can be seen, for example, from the fact that the number of schools in the country is growing continuously. Compared with 1940, when the Dutch colonizers ruled in Indonesia, there are now twenty times as many schools.
But we, the women of Indonesia, cannot close our eyes to the great difficulties which our people still face: their life is still very hard. We know that the main cause of our difficulties is that the main economic positions in Indonesia are still in the hands of foreign monopolies, which by all ways and means try to preserve and even extend these positions of theirs. Therefore we say: the chief enemy of the people of Indonesia is the colonialism and imperialism of Holland, Britain and the USA; against it we are waging, and will tirelessly wage, an uncompromising struggle.
We, Indonesian women, live many thousands of kilometres from the women of Europe and of other continents, but we are linked with them by a common striving for peace and friendship between peoples. We regard the strengthening and development of mutual understanding, the struggle for the reduction of armaments and the complete prohibition of atomic and other weapons of mass destruction of people as the guarantee of peace.
We, the mothers and women of Indonesia, fully approve the proposal of the Soviet Union, which was also supported by the parliament of Indonesia, on the prohibi[tion ... – text breaks off]
