Comrade Aidit points to the need to strengthen the party's positions among the workers. A great achievement of the country's trade union movement, the report says, is the fact that the revolutionary trade union centre SOBSI] has become the largest in the country and all attempts of reactionary trade unions to destroy the centre of this trade union have failed. The report notes the great successes of the party in work among the peasants, the strengthening of the BTI* and its achievements in the struggle for the "six goods" (reduction of land rent, reduction of interest on money debts, increase in the earnings of agricultural workers, increase in agricultural production, raising of the cultural level of the peasants and raising of the political consciousness of the peasants). The report speaks of the active work of the youth organisation "Pemuda Rakjat", which has in its ranks more than 1 million 250 thousand people and which educates its members in the spirit of Marxism-Leninism. The women's movement has also achieved great successes in the past period. In recent years the women's organisation "Gerwani" has made important progress in expanding the organisation, increasing its membership and consolidating its ranks. Comrade Aidit pointed to two aspects of work among the intelligentsia. The first is work among the non-party intelligentsia and the second is the education of a large number of communist intellectuals. In conclusion of the report Aidit proclaimed: There are no insurmountable difficulties for the party, there are no fortresses that cannot be taken, and therefore, comrades, let us build the party at an ever higher tempo. Let us raise still higher the banners of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism! Let us raise higher the banners of democracy, unity and mobilisation! For the further fulfilment of the President's order! Forward, for democracy and the "Gotong Royong" cabinet*, for the full implementation of the Political Manifesto! * "Panca Sila" [Pancasila] – the five principles of President Sukarno: belief in God, nationalism, humanism, democracy and social justice. (Ed.). * SOBSI – the abbreviated Indonesian name of the Central Federation of Trade Unions of Indonesia. (Ed.). * BTI – the Indonesian Peasants' Union [Barisan Tani Indonesia].
