A conference of President Sukarno with military commanders, including the commanders of all the military districts of Indonesia, took place in the presidential palace in Bogor. Sukarno made two speeches. In his first speech he addressed the Indonesian and foreign correspondents who were present at the opening of this conference. Sukarno expressed displeasure and condemned those Indonesian and Western journalists who try to inflame passions and for this purpose spread the most varied fabrications about the recent events in Indonesia and about the "Movement of 30 September". He ridiculed the newspaper reports that spoke of "atrocities" allegedly committed by supporters of the "Movement of 30 September". Sukarno warned that he would dissolve any party, including the "Nahdlatul Ulama" party and the Indonesian National Party, if they continued to inflame passions in the country. The second speech President Sukarno made behind closed doors, and told the correspondents nothing about it.
