Aidit Broadcast Speech
Peking, NCNA, Radioteletype in English to Europe and Africa, Mar. 28, 1959,
2212 GMI--B
(Text) Peking--D. N. Aidit, secretary general of the Indonesian Communist Party, made a broadcast speech to the Chinese people before he left Peking for Hanoi yesterday.. The full text of his recorded speech was broadcast over the national radio network this evening by the central people's broadcasting station. (The only monitored Peking voice broadcasts of the speech have been in international
He recalled that the delegation of the Indonesian Communist Party he was leading visited Peking and Wuhan during its fortnight stay in China. He said: "We feel greatly honored to have met the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party, to have learned of the latest developments in China *®7.A to have exchanged views on our common task of defending and consolidating peace in Asia and the world over during our stay."
The Indonesian Communist Party leader continued that the talks with the Chinese leeders had helped them achieve a between knowledge of the great leap forward of China's socialist construction, of the large-scale industrial construction in China, of the great efforts being made to promote culture, of the measures to raise the itving standards of the people, of the people's communes and the prospects of this social organization which had embraced 99 percent of the Chinese rural households of various nationalities.
Aidit said thet the delegation had visited factories, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, homes for the aged, and people's communes while
in China. "Our deep impression is thatthe ideas and plans of the leaders to build a powerful socielist China and then to build communism in Chine, and their unified will, have become the ideas, the goal of living and the unified will of the masses of the Chinese people. This can only be explained by the fact that what the leacers think and do coincides with the desire and needs of the people," Aidit continued.
He added: "The 650 million Chinese people, the Chinese Communist Party, its Central Committee, and Comrade Mao Tse-tung are united as one. To build socialism in China and to proceed step by step to the communist society which has been longed for by mankind for centuries--they are coincident in ideas and actions."

He continued: "I would like to take this oppor tunity to convey to the Chinese peasants the warmest greetings of the Central Committee of the indonesian Communist Party and all the members of the Indonesian Communist Party on their suecess in finding out the best social organization for building socialism and, in the future, communiem. We mean the social organization which has embraced 500 million Chinese peasants, the people's communes. °
"rf vhe imperialists did not attack the neople's communes, they would net te imerialists, Their sort of talk that the people's communes have destvoyed family life, chat the children have been forced away fron their parents, and thet the women are compelled to leave household wors for production is an imperialist lie. They know they are lying, but they still think that there will be people to believe them. This is why they are;eddling their lie everywhere."
fidit said: "I velieve that to the Chinese peasant women--I know the stdonesian peasant women think so, as do the peasant women in aii other countries~-a smokey kitchen is no paradise. Therefore, if anyone insisted on the setting up of community dining rooms by people's communes, they were no other than the women, supported by their husbands.
Besides, the women also take an interest in the establishment of kindergartens and nurseries by people's communes. With them, they can put their children there while working at fields, and take them back home after a day's work. Not only the Chinese women and the Indonesian women, but the American women, I believe, do not like to work in whe fields with their children on their backs as in the years of the oid China. So I fully understand way the women of the people's communes work with such zeal and earn pay to improve the living standards of their families, together with their husbands. How happy the Chinese women are, having completely freed themselves from the remnants of
the influence of the dark o1d socisty, with the people's communes as
their weencas.
"No doubt, the people's communes do not mean only emancipation cf women, free meals for the people, and good care and attention to children in kindergartens and nurseries. The members of the delegation of the Indonesian Communist Party I am leading nave also seen with their own eyes and heard that the people's communes, wrich emerged in 1958 anc have now embraced about 500 million peésants, are a new and vital social organization, an inevitable development after the lend reform followed by the socialist agricultural cooperation and the greav leap forward in socialist construction. The people's communes combine industry, agriculture, trade, education, and military affairs. This is the most correct social organization for China to enhance socialism
and proceed to communism. To China, there is no road which is casier and faster to reach this goal."

Aidit considered that, following the seven-year plan of the USSR,
the development of the Chinese people's communes would also have a. | wide and deep influence on the future progress: of the present woride
He said that this was no overestimate.
"As is often said by the Indonesian communists and the other patriots, including President Sukarno, the friendship between the Indonesian
and the Chinese people is not new. Thic friendship is very good at present, as the Indonesian ambassador to China, Sukardjo Wirjopranoto, said recently in Jakarta. I trust that the great successes achieved by the Chinese people recently and to be achieved in the future wil L further consolidate this, existing and cloee friendship..
"the achievements of the Indonesian people in driving out colonialism,.
in defeating foreign interference headed by the United States, and in destroying the subversive activities of the imperialists have consolidated at the same time the friendship between Indonesia and China.
"UeSe imperialism attempts to obstruct the peaceful labor of the Chinese people in building ‘socialism. Concerning the unification of all
China, there is still Taiwan which is not yet liberated, Similarly, the struggle of the Indonesian people for complete national independence is also obstructed by the imperialists headed by the United States. Part of Indonesian territory, West Irian, is not yet under the control.
of the Republic of Indonesia.
"These facts have further consolidated the friendship between Indonesia
and China and have strengthened the will of the people of the two countries with ‘revolutionary traditions. Socialist China will be more powerful -
with each passing day. Taiwan is sure to return to the embrace of |
China, its legal owner, Similarly, Indonesia will gain complete national independence and West Irian is sure to be Jiberated and to return again
+0 the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, " the Indonesian Communist
_ leader | continued.
Aidit concluded that the achievements of powerful Socialist China and
the Indonesian people in their struggle against imperialism were great contributions to Asian and world peace. He said that these
contributions together with those of the other Asian people were certain to lead to. peace in the Far Bast as proposed by N. Se Khrushchev at the 2ist congress of the ‘Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and to strengthen peace among all Pacific countries as suggested by President Sukarno in a speech in Shanghai in October 1956, during his visit to China.
