=== [PDF page 1] === PRESIDENT SPEAKS TO WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION ‘Djakarta Domestic Service in Indonesian 0700 GMT 17 December 1965--B (Text) President Sukarno has stressed that ideas are bigger than anything physical in nature because, he added, ideas not only cannot be bridled and shackled, but ideas can destroy prison walls. This also applies to the ideas of our revolution, such as the five charms of the revolution, which include Nasakom, Pantjasila, Manipol- Usdek, Trisakti, and Berdikari. === [PDF page 2] === The President made these remarks in a speech before a public meeting commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Indonesian Republican Women's Assocation (Perwari) at the Senajan Sports Place this morning. The Chief of State further said: Pantjasila is the basis and "receptacle" of the state and its ideals. It is therefore wrong for anybody to use Pantjasila to fight another party for the interest and benefit of his own group or himself. Referring to the role of women in the revolution, the Chief of State reemphasized that without women we cannot carry out and complete the revolution. It is, however, incorrect to think that either women or men alone can complete the revolution. To complete the revolution we need the joint effort of men and women. He called on Perwari members to realize this and to continue their efforts to win the revolution. Third Deputy Premier Chaerul Saleh, in his speech on the occasion, expressed the hope that Perwari translate its struggle programs into concrete actions in the political, social, economic, as well as cultural fields. Referring to the aftereffects of the Gestapu adventure, Dr. ‘Chaerul Saleh urged Indonesian women, together with the social affairs department, to consider the care of children of those who were the victims of Gestapu or were involved in Gestapu, regardless of who their parents were because, he added, they are all children of Indonesia. Social Affairs Minister Mme. Rusiah Sardjono, as a leading member of Perwari, chiefly stressed Perwari's determination to carry out the commands and teachings of the Great Leader of the Revolution. On the occasion, Mme. Rusiah Sardjono refuted the Nekolim charge that President Sukarno is afraid to face the public or that he is tired. No, she said, Bung Karno is still fit and healthy; he continues to lead the Indonesian revolution, and is loved by the Indonesian ‘people, from Sabang to Merauke.
