Indonesian Women's 3rd Congress (Palembang, 2-6 March 1955)

Indonesian Women’s 3rd Congress | The third Indonesian Women’s Congress will be held-in Palembang from today Mar. 2 until Mar. 6 and will be at-. tended by 300 members of tue Main Committees of women organizations all over Indonesia. In a Press conference held recently the chairman of the Congress Preparatory Committee Mrs. S. A. Hanafia explained that an amount ot Rp. 100,000 is needed to finance the Congress. The money collected at present is Rp. 38,757,50 which was donated by Commander of T.T. II, the Palembang Resident, national enterprises, the Congress’ secretariat and from others. The preparatory committee will be supported by women organizations such as the Perwari, (Indonesian Women Federation), Gerwauni (Indonesian Women Movement), Wanita Demokrat and the women’s section of the Indone sian Socialist Party, and others. The Aisjiah and Muslimat are not participating |} said Mrs. Hanafiah. . It was further announced that the Committee is headed by Mrs. S. A. Hanafiah (Gerwani), secretary is Mfrs. R. Mailan (Gerwani) and treasurer Mrs. Djauhari (Bayangkhari). Promoters are Mrs. Winarno, Mrs. Abdulrozak and Mrs. Ali Amin, says an Indonesian Press release.
