All-Indonesian Youth of Sangihe Talaud (Pemuda Peladjar dan Mahasiswa Sangihe Talaud se-Indonesia) and will not participate in the organizational meeting to be held in the Sangihe Islands.
The announcement called attention to the working methods of the central committee, the removal of several persons because of their ideologies, and the fact that the efforts of the GPIST to achieve unity were not received by the central committee. The announcement was signed by H. Onthoni, GPIST general chairman, and W. S. Sabarie, first secretary.
The paper says that disruptive influences are anticipated in the forthcoming meeting of the All-Indonesian Youth of Sangihe Talaud organization. These influences will stem from a group interested in attaining political objectives. Because of the activities of this group several members of the organization have been expelled, among them Mrs. Salawati Daud and Dolongpaha, who were accused of being PKI members.
2. Autonomous Regions
Government Structure for Moluccas The Makassar daily Marhaen of 10 August 1957 said the cabinet has approved a bill establishing a first-level autonomous region of the Moluccas and another bill established four second-level autonomous regions within the first-level region. The first-level region of the Moluccas is divided into the North Moluccas with its capital at Ternate, the Central Moluccas with its capital at Amahai, the Southeast Moluccas with its capital at Tual, and the municipality of Ambon.
Information Minister Sudibjo explained that the regional representative council of the Moluccas will consist of 30 members and the regional executive council will consist of 5 members, not including the regional executive. The regional representative council of the North Moluccas will consist of 25 members; that of the Central Moluccas, 35 members; that of the Southeast Moluccas, 15 members; and that of Ambon city, 15 members. Each of these second-level regions will have a regional executive council of five members, not including the regional executive.
b. Proposed Province of East Celebes Doctoral Candidate Laode Manarfa and A. Sjafludin, members of the Constituent Assembly and members of a delegation of the movement for a separate province of East Celebes, stated recently that their talks with Sanusi Hardjadinata, Minister of Internal Affairs, had produced satisfactory results, according to the 25 July 1957 Java Bode. Laode Manarfa stated that the campaign for a province of East Celebes dates from 1952; the proposed province would include the regencies of Buton (together with the islands of Muna and Moronene), Kendari Kolalka, Mungku-Mori, and Mungku-Banggai.
He added that the area constitutes a homogeneous geographic, economic, and social unit; that it produces copra, dried fish, rattan, and asphalt; and that it has valuable deposits of nickel, petroleum, iron ore, and managanese ore.
