Pleidooi Affandi Ridhwan (Plea of Affandi Ridhwan)
Plea of Affandi Ridhwan at his Bandung trial
De Nieuwsgier, 27 May 1953: at Affandi Ridhwan's trial in Bandung for cooperation with Darul Islam, he argues he acted with central government approval, asking why he should be punished if Leimena contacted RMS bands and 'Mrs Salawati Daoed' negotiated with Kahar Muzakkar's bands. Salawati Daud appears only as a precedent for government-sanctioned negotiation.
“"If at the time Minister Leimena went to make contact with the bands of the R.M.S. and Mrs. Salawati Daoed went to enter into negotiations with the bands of Kahar Muzakkar, why must I now be punished?"”
