Belediging Staatshoofd (Insulting the Head of State)

De hoofdredacteur van het hier ter stede verschijnend Indonesische dagblad „Massa" werd eergisteren door de PAM ontboden naar aanleiding van een artikel in genoemd blad van de hand van S.K. Trimurti. Bedoeld artikel betreffende de 1 Mei-viering zou beledigende zinsneden bevatten aan het adres van de President van de Republiek Indonesië, o.m. het volgende: „Toentertijd was de President van de R.I. om onbekende redenen vol geestdrift, en heeft mede het woord gevoerd op de alun-alun in Djokja. Wij herinneren ons dat de President gezegd heeft: Alleen in de Sovjet-Unie en in Indonesië viert het vrije volk de 1 Mei-dag, hand aan hand met de regering". Veel beloften werden gedaan en veel eden en halve eden werden afgelegd. Dat zijn wij gewend van broer Soekarno, van de Japanse tijd af. De belofte aan de romusha: „Helden van de productie", belofte aan het volk inhoudende schone woorden. Wij zijn het zeer gewend deze woorden te horen uit de mond van deze broer, bombastisch en te overijld. De heer Soemaritoro, hoofdredacteur van „Massa", deelde de PAM mede de volle verantwoordelijkheid van genoemd stuk op zich te nemen.

K. Trimurti. The article in question concerning the 1 May celebration is said to contain insulting phrases addressed to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, including the following: "At that time the President of the R.I. was, for unknown reasons, full of enthusiasm, and also spoke on the alun-alun in Djokja. We remember that the President said: Only in the Soviet Union and in Indonesia does the free people celebrate 1 May day, hand in hand with the government. Many promises were made and many oaths and half-oaths were taken. We are used to that from brother Soekarno, since the Japanese time. The promise to the romusha: 'Heroes of production', promise to the people containing beautiful words. We are very used to hearing these words from the mouth of this brother, bombastic and too hasty." Mr. Soemaritoro, editor-in-chief of "Massa", informed the PAM that he accepted full responsibility for the said piece.
