Vice-Chairman Njoto [Yoto] calls on the people to carry out President Sukarno's order and take the revolutionary road to smash "Malaysia"; Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organisation issues statement supporting the anti-"Malaysia" struggle
Xinhua News Agency, Jakarta, 21st – Harian Rakjat [Harian Rakyat] of Indonesia reported today that Njoto [Yoto; "约多"], Second Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Communist Party, called on the Indonesian people to advance along the revolutionary road in the struggle to smash the neo-colonialist "Malaysia". Njoto made these remarks in a speech at a training course organised by the Indonesian Women's Movement Association [Gerwani]. Njoto said: "There are three roads for carrying out the President's order of action to smash 'Malaysia': the moderate road, the adventurist road and the revolutionary road. The first two cannot be taken. The revolutionary road is one that relies on the strength of the people and on all revolutionary instruments; this is the only road we should take." Speaking of President Sukarno's Independence Day speech of 17 August this year, Njoto said that the speech showed that the offensive launched in the spirit of the Political Manifesto had entered a new stage. Njoto said that President Sukarno's speech had a resolutely anti-imperialist and anti-feudal spirit; it united all the forces that can be united and isolated all the forces that should be isolated, especially the rightists and the hypocrites. He pointed out that the principles put forward by President Sukarno in his Independence Day speech – political independence, economic self-reliance and the preservation of national character in culture – were of great significance.
Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, 19th – The Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organisation issued a statement here today saying that the peoples of Asia and Africa firmly support the struggle of the peoples of North Kalimantan, Singapore, Malaya and Indonesia against the neo-colonialist Federation of Malaysia established by British imperialism with US backing. The statement demanded the immediate withdrawal of foreign troops from Southeast Asia and the removal of all British and American military bases. The statement recalled the recent rush of British warships, bombers and troops from European bases to Singapore, Malaya and North Kalimantan and the recent violation of Indonesian territorial waters by British warships. The statement said that Britain, with the support of US imperialists, was stepping up its military strength in order to support the neo-colonialist Federation of Malaysia, suppress the peoples' struggle in those areas for genuine independence and threaten the peace of the Republic of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
