Xinhua News Agency, 4th – This evening the All-China Women's Federation of the People's Republic of China held a grand reception to warmly welcome the women guests of honour, women's delegations and women friends from various countries in Beijing who have come to take part in the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic and to make friendly visits. The reception began after Vice-Chairman Soong Ching Ling, Premier Zhou Enlai and Vice-Premier Chen Yi had received the women guests from various countries. They had met our leaders and now gathered with the Chinese sisters, sitting close together in intimate talk and speaking freely of friendship. At the reception, in an atmosphere overflowing with the warmest friendship, the distinguished guests from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania, together with the Chinese sisters, repeatedly raised their glasses to the close friendship and unity between Chinese women and women of all countries, to still greater victories in the peoples' struggle against imperialism and in defence of world peace, to the vigorous development of the national and democratic movements of Asia, Africa and Latin America, and to social progress and the happiness of women and children. Cai Chang, Chair of the All-China Women's Federation, spoke at the reception, warmly welcoming the guests on behalf of the Federation. She said that through this evening's gathering the friendship between us would be further enhanced. Cai Chang said that in the fifteen years China had undergone earth-shaking changes, and the mental outlook and social status of Chinese women had also changed enormously; they had become an important force in China's socialist revolution and socialist construction. She said that only under the wise leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman Mao Zedong, and thanks to the continuous victorious development of China's socialist cause, had Chinese women been able to play their active role. Cai Chang warmly congratulated women of all countries on their contributions to the anti-imperialist revolutionary struggle and to national construction. She said that Chinese women would, as always, continue their efforts to strengthen friendly unity with the women of the socialist camp, with the women of Asia, Africa and Latin America, and with women all over the world. Cai Chang said that Chinese women had consistently opposed the policy of aggression and war of US-led imperialism, defended world peace, and consistently supported the struggle of oppressed nations and oppressed peoples for national independence and democratic rights. Chinese women would maintain their consistent stand, unite still more closely with women of all countries, support and inspire one another, and strive together for new and greater victories. Deng Yingchao, Vice-Chair of the All-China Women's Federation, proposed a toast at the reception. Gathered with the friends from various countries were: Vice-Chairs of the All-China Women's Federation Xu Guangping, Shi Liang, Zhang Yun, Yang Zhihua and Kang Keqing; Zhuo Lin, wife of Vice-Premier Deng Xiaoping; Zhang Qian, wife of Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Chen Yi; Zhang Jieqing, wife of Beijing Mayor Peng Zhen; Luo Qiong, First Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation; Zhang Xiaomei, Director of the Beijing Municipal Women's Federation; the women ministers of the government; advanced and outstanding women workers in all kinds of jobs; and women representatives from all walks of life.
