Yes, it is an issue of all of our heroes, both our heroes who died during Dutch rule, those who died during the Japanese occupation, those who died at the physical stage of our revolution, those who died in various military operations in defense of the revolution and our republic.
The epilogue of the 30 September Movement is also the issue of our heroes who recently died as victims of slanders, instigations, and terror. We are all responsible to meet their demand for justice and (word indistinct). Because, as our President said, the 30 September Movement adventure is a national issue, an issue of the revolution, an issue of the whole nation from Sabang to Merauke.
is also an issue of the security and safety of our revolution. This is clear from the President's command of 21 October.
Furthermore brothers and sisters, the day before yesterday, at the plenary cabinet session in Bogor our President said that the present 30 September Movement's adventure is a "setback" (quoted word in English--ed.) of eight years in our struggle. Mind this brothers and sisters, a "setback" of eight-years.
If we evaluate the President's remark in an historic retrospective manner it forces us all to look back to the situation and position of our revolution and our country eight years ago--that is, some time in 1957. What were conditions in 1957? Our President called 1957, in his 17 August independence day speech, a year of decision.
In 1956 our President called on us to give substance to our lives. At that time we were faced with crises in all fields and the spectre of their consequences.
There were the threats of separatism, anarchism, individualism, and liberalism which had no aim, no direction, no foundation, and no morality or ethics. It was because the President realized these dangers that he called on us to "give substance to your lives. Fill your lives with (several words indistinct.)"
He stressed that as a nation and as individuals we aimed to serve God Almighty, to serve our (word indistinct) and the fatherland, to serve the people's masses, to serve social justice. In other words, to serve God Almighty, which whether we like it or not, will lead us to the necessity to serve Pantjasila.
We had our
At that time we still had not projected Pantjasila into Manipol-Usdek.
Manipol-Usdek in 1959, the year of "the rediscovery of our revolution" (quoted in English--ed.), after we passed through the year of decision in 1957 and the year of challenge in 1958, the year of the determination of guided democracy and socialism which were opposed by the PRRI-Permesta rebellion.
Brothers and sisters, automatically I recalled the course of our revolution and state in those years when the President stated that our revolution suffered a setback of about eight years. This means that we all must work hard to restore the true nature of Manipol-Usdek, the spirit of the Trisakti Tavip, and the determination of the spirit of Berdikari, which we must base on our Pantjasila with the spirit of Nasakom as its (?core).
This means that we must work with all our energy and our mind to rebuild all the moral and material damage caused by the 30 September Movement. This means that we all must come forward to face all the consequences to protect the safety of our revolution and state, our Pantjasila and its five charms.

The task in front of us is not easy--the more so in the regions where the remnants of the 30 September Movement are still waging havoc, terrorizing our innocent Marhaenist people and state functionaries who are carrying out their duties.
However, thank God that thanks to the close cooperation of our armed forces and the people much progress has been achieved. Nevertheless, we must not relax for a single moment, because besides putting down the remnants of the 30 September Movement we must also maintain and further increase our revolutionary vigilance against enemy No. 1 of our state, namely Nekolim which without doubt is trying to exploit the current difficulties and confusion in our fatherland.
Also other international forces will not remain idle.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, a gigantic task lies in front of us, the task to recover the setback of eight years. We must recover this in a time less than the aformentioned eight years we have lost, for example in two or three years.
It is certainly not an easy task, especially the international situation will not wait for us until we have recovered from our setback. Also the international situation moves rapidly, dynamically, and dialectically.
For this reason our task requires a flaming patriotic spirit, a heroic spirit, of sacrifice which is willing to work hard without expecting any remunerations, a spirit of loyal service to serve and to struggle along the road of service to God. All this requires our determined desire to always increase our belief in God so that we will be able to receive God's protection and guidance.
Yes, brothers and sisters, we want to receive God's guidance and protection, we want to follow the steps taken by our heroes whose spirit and souls we will honor the day after tomorrow. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters in the fatherland from Sabang to Merauke, and wherever you are at home and abroad, let us, at this time of difficulty and danger to our revolution, caused by slanders, instigations, and adventurism, let us continue to go onward, continue the struggle following the course of our revolution, using the five charms as our weapon.
There is no doubt that this terrific weapon will find its mark, provided we always uphold our firm solidarity with the spirit of our Heroes Day. For this reason, observe Heroes Day as solemnly as possible; observe Heroes Day with the fullest realization of the historic task of our nation; observe Heroes Day in a spirit of national unity, with Pantjasila as a tool to forge unity, and with Pantjasila as a way of life. This is all, and goodnight.
