NINETY PERCENT OF WORLD'S PEOPLE
SUPPORT NORTH VIETNAM
Following is a translation of an unsigned article in the Indonesian-language newspaper Harian Rakjat (People's Daily), Djakarta, 20 July 1965, page 1.7
President Sukarno upon welcoming the visiting delegation of women from the United States, North Vietnam, and the National South Vietnam Freedom Front which was held at the Bogor Palace on Sunday morning, stated that 90 percent of the peoples of the world sympathized with the struggle of the Vietnamese people who were now experiencing military aggression and intervention from the United States.
When he directed himself to the women's delegation of the United States President Sukarno explained that the peoples of Asia and Africa basically sought to have all of the problems affecting both continents to be settled by the peoples of Asia and Africa themselves through their own efforts and with no outside intervention.
The head of State also expressed his encouragement on seeing the progressive women's forces of the United States fastening their attention upon the events taking place in the course of the struggle and war in Vietnam at the present time. He said: "We Indonesian people fully support and consistently back and assist any people who are struggling to build up the spirit and soul of "freedom to be free."
"If for example there were anyone threatening the freedom of the American people and the American nation, then I myself would be the first to side with the freedom of the United States."
The women's delegations of the United States, North Vietnam, and the South Vietnam National Liberation Front.

were honored at a reception given by Mrs. Hartini Sukarno after they had completed holding their three-sided meetings during the five days in Djakarta at which they discussed ideas for supporting the halting of United States aggresion and intervention against the Vietnamese people.
The United States women's delegation chairman, Mrs.
Mary Clarke, on behalf of the delegation which she led and also on behalf of her companions from North Vietnam and South Vietnam took the opportunity to hand over to President Sukarno a report of the results achieved in their meeting in Djakarta, which took place from 13 to 18 July.
President Sukarno readily read the "joint appeal" of the three delegations and expressed complete sympathy with it and welcomed the conclusions reached in the joint efforts used in forming the "joint appeal."
At an informal meeting at Bogor Palace that lasted for about two hours, President Sukarno also talked about the struggle of the NEFO peoples at the present time and the aims and objectives of the CONEFO which is to take place in Djakarta in August 1966.
The arrival of the three women's delegations of the United States, North Vietnam, and the National South Vietnam Freedom Front at Bogor Palace was greeted by the General Chairman of the Indonesian Women's Congress, Mrs. Dr. Hurustiati Subandrio and Mrs. Mudigdio, along with several leading members of other women's groups, who consequently joined the party.
