Fate of four Diponegoro Division officers unknown: Gerwani and the generals' widows (Berita Harian, 1965)

Open file in Google DriveRead full text

Berita Harian, 15 October 1965, p. 3, Reuters: troops capture local communist leaders in Serang, units search a communist's house in Jakarta, and unrest in Yogyakarta; reports claim 'more and more' Gerwani members tried to kidnap army officers' wives and, the previous night, to seize several generals' widows. An early army-sourced Gerwani smear, one without evidence.

Berita Harian, 15 Oktober 1965, hlm. 3, Reuters: pasukan menangkap pemimpin komunis lokal di Serang, rumah seorang komunis di Jakarta digeledah, dan kerusuhan di Yogyakarta; dilaporkan 'makin banyak' anggota Gerwani berusaha menculik istri perwira dan, malam sebelumnya, menawan beberapa janda jenderal. Fitnah awal berbasis sumber tentara terhadap Gerwani, tanpa bukti.

“p.3: 'More and more members of Gerwani – the Communist women's front – are reported to have tried to kidnap the wives of army officers' (English translation).”
