Declassified State Department cable (State 207433, 30 Aug 1977) to Embassy Singapore. Prompted by Congressman Koch's challenge, it says research confirms that Dr. Sutanti Aidit was a member of Gerwani's central committee but not of the PKI's, a point the Indonesian embassy also gave, and that earlier correspondence would be amended unless PKI membership could be documented.

Kawat Departemen Luar Negeri AS yang dideklasifikasi (State 207433, 30 Agustus 1977) ke Kedutaan Singapura. Menanggapi sanggahan Kongres Koch, kawat menyatakan penelusuran memastikan Dr. Sutanti Aidit anggota komite sentral Gerwani, bukan PKI, sesuai informasi Kedutaan Indonesia; surat sebelumnya akan diubah bila keanggotaan PKI tak terdokumentasi.

“WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT DR. AIDIT WAS MEMBER OF CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF GERWANI BUT NOT OF PKI ITSELF. (para. 2)”
