Umi Sardjono: 'Regulation no. 19 is still unjust' (Harian Rakjat, 23 July 1952)
Harian Rakjat, Jakarta, 23 July 1952 (full issue; p. 3 relevant). Article by Umi Sardjono on Government Regulation 19/1952 (widows' pensions): nearly all women's organisations object, some demanding repeal, others accepting pensions but opposing polygamy. She says the rules in effect encourage polygamy, and recalls that Gerwis in August 1951 pressed the government with a list of widows of victims, asking for recognition and pensions.
Harian Rakjat, Jakarta, 23 Juli 1952 (satu edisi penuh; hlm. 3 relevan). Artikel Umi Sardjono tentang Peraturan Pemerintah 19/1952 (pensiun janda): hampir semua organisasi wanita keberatan; sebagian menuntut pencabutan, sebagian menerima pensiun tetapi menolak poligami. Ia menilai aturan itu mendorong poligami, dan mengingatkan bahwa Gerwis pada Agustus 1951 mendesak pemerintah dengan daftar janda korban agar diakui dan diberi pensiun.
“p. 3: Umi Sardjono: 'Peraturan Pemerintah no. 19 telah banyak menggoncangkan masyarakat wanita'; Gerwis in August 1951 urged the government with a list of widows of various victims.”
